Tournament Rules

  1. Weather: The decision to fish is solely the Captain’s choice. All anglers fish at their own discretion and risk. If the tournament
    committee determines it is unsafe to fish on June 22nd, the tournament will be held the following day June 23rd, 2024.
  2. All fish must be caught on rod & reel (no electric reels). Kites, wire lines, downriggers, and planers are allowed. Live bait, dead bait, and artificial baits are permitted. No live chumming allowed. No restrictions on line test.
  3. The eastern fishing boundary is 25 nautical miles. The northern boundary is FORT PIERCE INLET and the southern boundary is HAULOVER INLET. Fishing in the Bahamas is prohibited.
  4. All state and federal recreational fishing rules regarding weight, size, and bag limits must be observed. State fishing license is required by law. Only legal sized fish will be weighed. No billfish will be weighed!
  5. No limits to the number of lines a boat may fish.
  6. Prizes are awarded to heaviest fish in each category, not accumulated weight.
  7. Each boat is allowed to weigh one (1) fish per category. The Aggregate category is the only exception to this rule. Each Boat can win one cash prize and the tournament will place you in the best paying category possible. You may also win 1 lady & 1 junior prize.
  8. Award winners over $600.00 must provide their social security number and will be required to fill out a W-9 form.
  9. Any winners of the tournament may be subject to a polygraph test and a torry meter test.
  10. All cash and prizes will be awarded to the person or entity that paid the entry fee from the winning boat unless that said person signs a release designating another individual or entity to receive the cash or prize.
  11. Lines in at 6:30am and lines out at 3:30pm. No mutilated fish will be weighed. Anglers entering fish must return to the tournament scales from the boat they fished from by 4:30pm. Fish must be weighed in the presence of the weigh master, the angler, or captain, and recorded on an official weigh-in form. No fish or anglers can be transferred between boats. Boats must check in with Tow Boat US by 4:30pm in side Palm Beach Inlet. All entered fish must be able to pass a Torry Meter and Organoleptic test.
  12. In the event of a tie, the first fish weighed will win the award and the other fish will become eligible for the next lowest category if applicable.
  13. For SKA members: If a SKA rule is not listed above, you must abide by SKA rules.
  14. Tournament Discretion: The tournament director reserves the right to implement his or her discretion at any time during the tournament as it may apply to the rules or any other circumstance that should arise before or during the event.
  15. One team member must be present at the Captains meeting on Friday, June 21st, 2024 at 7pm in case there are any rule changes.
  16. Protests: All protests must be submitted in writing along with $500 cash or check to the tournament officials within one hour of the conclusion of the day of fishing. Protests should be made based on first hand eyewitness information. All decisions of the tournament officials regarding protests are final. All participants agree and acknowledge by their participation that this protest shall be the sole remedy for any and all disputes arising from the competition. In addition, all participants expressly waive their right to trial.
